I am a writer currently writing a short story collection (for my own enjoyment and the enjoyment of my friends, so I’m not worrying about publishing at this time). I was just wondering how many short stories were generally in one of those. Like minimum to maximum? Or do they count it based on word count? Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, it varies widely. Short story collections tend to be shorter than novels, maybe 80,000 words or so, so maybe 12-18 stories, generally.
